SPF Eggs
We produce specified pathogen free eggs or for short SPF eggs. These eggs are free of certain pathogens. These are defined in Europe in chapter 5.2.2 of the European Pharmacopoeia and in the United States by the Department of Agriculture in “Veterinary Services Memorandum 800.65.”.
Our customers use these SPF eggs to produce live vaccines for humans (for example against measles, mumps, rabies, yellow fever, TBE, monkeypox) and animals (poultry, fish) or use them in pharmaceutical research (drug development, cancer research). SPF eggs also serve as the basis for downstream products such as SPF pullets or primary cell cultures.
